Mindex recently updated discipline permissions to allow greater control over the fields that can be viewed and/or edited for discipline referrals and classroom incidents. The CNYRIC team has been testing these new options and are noticing that the default settings made during the upgrade may not function as intended, and districts will need to review and update these permission settings for staff to submit discipline referrals or classroom incidents. Specifically, the "Add" permission only grants access to begin creating a referral or classroom incident. To add any fields in an incident or referral, the corresponding field permissions under "View" and “Edit" must be enabled as well. The default selection of only “Edit” will not allow staff to access these fields; therefore, corresponding “View” permissions must also be updated to provide the ability to submit incident or referral information.
In addition, the CNYRIC team recently notified Mindex that permissions for some required fields can be changed. However, if staff are not provided access to the required fields of location, offense, and description, they will receive an error and be unable to submit an incident or referral. Mindex is looking into this and will be getting back to our team with additional information.
A separate email with documentation and additional detail has been sent to Directors of Technology as indicated on the CNYRIC Trusted Agent Portal and to the Educational Data Services SchoolTool New Release contact list.
We will continue to provide updates as we receive more information. We sincerely appreciate your patience as Mindex works to provide more information about this upgrade and its features. If you have any additional questions or issues, please do not hesitate to contact your primary SchoolTool consultant or another SchoolTool Support team member.
